NOTE:
 
 
The Japan Rail Pass is not valid on the "Nozomi" shinkansen trains. To use the "Nozomi" train, appropriate tickets must be purchased.
 
 
Passengers using trains on non-JR lines must pay the respective fares and charges applicable to sections traveled on such lines. JR Pass holders traveling on JR lines should be aware that some lines do make use of private rail lines and that they will be responsible for nominal additional fees.

5-day PASS, 10-day PASS
5-and 10-day PASSES are valid for a period of 5 or 10 consecutive days, respectively, beginning on the first day of use of the PASS.
 
 
Flexible 4-day PASS
Usable on any 4 consecutive or non-consecutive days within a month: Useful for leisurely-stay-type travel.
Flexible 4-day PASSES are valid for 4 consecutive or non-consecutive days within one month from the date the PASS was issued. (Each date on which the PASS is used will be stamped on the PASS at the respective station's ticket gate or aboard trains.

The validity period is the consecutive (4) four or (8) eight days beginning on the date the Pass is first used.
 
2.

Once the Pass' starting date has been designated, it cannot be changed.
 
     
 
KANSAI AREA
 
 
 
1.
The validity period is the consecutive (1) one, (2) two, (3) three, (4) four days beginning on the date the Pass is first used.
 
2.
The first date of the validity period is designated at the time of exchange. This date must be within (3) three months from the date the voucher was issued.
 
3.
Once the Pass' starting date has been designated, it cannot be changed.
 
     
 
LINES OF SERVICE
 
 
SANYO AREA
 
 
These passes allow for unrestricted boarding and unboarding, within the designated area, of the following trains operated by West Japan Railway Co., (JR West) "Nozomi", "Hikari", and "Kodama" Sanyo Shinkansen super express trains, "Haruka" limited express trains, ordinary-class cars on local trains (reserved and non-reserved seats), and the Miyajima ferry line in Hiroshima.
 
     
 
KANSAI AREA
 
 
These passes allow unlimited travel, within the designated area, using non-reserved seats in ordinary-class cars on local trains operated by JR-West (including rapid-express and new rapid-express trains).
This pass can not be used for Shinkansen trains. When boarding limited-express and express trains other than Shinkansen trains, a ticket for the additional charges for these trains must also be purchased separately.
